Those of you who know me will know I like to count! In the last year Linda has ‘prescribed’ 135 swim sessions, 126 bike sessions, 119 run sessions and has even persuaded me into the gym on 62 occasions (it feels like more)
The sessions have been varied and challenging. Most have them have been fun and they have allowed me to achieve most of my seasons goals.
A run injury early in the season meant I didn’t complete Barcelona 70.3 although I was happy to be leading my age-group following the swim and bike sections. The rest of the season was successful and under Linda’s guidance I won my age-group and the Triathlon Scotland Sprint Championships at Monikie in July and was part of the winning team at Scottish Cycling Team Time Trial Championships at Forfar in August.
The rest of the season was devoted to swimrun. In September I competed in Loch Lomond Inch by Inch which is a multiple swimming and running race. Competitors swim in their running gear and run in their wetsuit! Sounds crazy but it is great fun. It is done in pairs and the Loch Lomond race consists of 10 runs and 9 swims round the islands of Loch Lomond. The race consists of a total of 8k swimming and 25k running. The longest run is 11.5K ( and involves ‘running’ up and down Conic Hill)and the longest swim 2.8k. My partner and I (both the wrong side of 50) finished 2nd female pair and were delighted to have completed such an iconic event. I recommend it to you.
None of this would have been possible without Linda’s coaching. She has helped me achieve my goals with the aid of a structured, varied and enjoyable programme. She is an attentive, reliable and innovative coach. I have just started my winter training block and looking forward to the challenges I have set myself for next year. I am confident that with Linda’s help it will be another successful year.Posted by admin Posted on 10 Oct
